See the letter to Governor Spitzer.....One of our own staff writers, Frank Brady, has sent an Open Letter to New York Governor Eliot Spitzer asking that he appoint Jeffrey Deskovic to the recent State Supreme Court vacancy in the 9th Judicial District created by Lawrence Horowitz's sudden resignation on June 22, 2007. Mr. Deskovic was recently released from state prison after spending half of his life locked up for crimes he did not commit and, notably, amidst a series of horrific miscarriages of justice. Here is the July 4th letter to Governor Spitzer...
July 4, 2007 - To The Honorable Eliot Spitzer, Governor of New York
There is hardly a better day to ask you for a true sign of positive change in the judicial affairs of the Empire State, than when we as a nation celebrate our beginning.
As you are aware, the New York State Court System is a mess, and in critical need of correction and reform. The people of New York have suffered through the ex-judge Garson criminal debacle. And fresh in our thoughts is the May 11th correction, by resignation under looming removal, of the improper backroom judicial appointment of politically connected Brooklyn ex-judge Frank Seddio.
But most recently, on June 22, 2007, State Supreme Court Judge Lawrence Horowitz resigned amid bench-removing allegations, leaving a State Supreme Court Judicial opening to be filled by you. And here is a history-making opportunity for you, one that all New Yorkers have long been waiting for as a sign of needed judicial reform.
The 4th of July is a fitting day for you to name Jeffrey Deskovic as a State Supreme Court Judge. His background is widely known (he did 16 years in state prison for a murder he did not commit) and he has true experience, unfortunately by his victimization, of a failed court system.
You must stop Mr. Deskovic's current plans to take the LSATs and go to law school. Make him a judge, now. He can then go to night school and get a law degree.
The systemic failures of the court system deprived this man of so much. You can make it right for Mr. Deskovic. More importantly, and for all the people of this state, you can take a bold and badly needed stride toward true court reform: appoint Jeffrey Deskovic as a New York State Supreme Court Justice.
July 4th is a beautiful day to hear New York Governor Eliot Spitzer say, "Today everything changes in the New York State Court System..."
Respectfully submitted, Frank Brady
Great idea, he knows the ropes since he was used and abused for 17 years by the system. He would make a great Judge. Do it Mr. Governor.
ReplyDeleteHmm, let me think about this.
ReplyDeleteWould I rather have another political rump-kissing hack as a judge or a man who would be committed to fairness, justice and the law.....something HE NEVER GOT !!
I'm still waiting for the day things change, Eliot.
Wait a minute, if we're going to have a judge who isn't controlled by the corrupt fat cats, I have some questions.
ReplyDeleteThen who do I buy lunch and dinners for? My wife?
Can I now take my family to sports events instead of the back-room-deal-making thugs?
Can I now stop "contracting" the services of court personnel's family, friends and front men/women?
Does this mean the end of judicial steering, "contracts" and "the fix is in." ??
Do I now need to start practicing real law...I think they referred to it in law school as a fair and impartial system, or something like that- I just forget.
Indeed, this is a novel concept: a court system in New York that isn't manipulated..... It just might work.
This could, in fact, work. But for a State Supreme Court Judge Deskovic to survive he would need top notch support by good court employees.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, believe it or not, there are some real good- and honest- people in the courts. We, too, welcome a change to the way court business is conducted.
Most importantly, though, would be the replacement of the current Administrative Judge of the 9th Judicial District with an appropriate leader.
Don't be an idiot Eliot give him the slot it will be the best appointment you'll ever make.
ReplyDeleteIf Deskovic is not appointed as judge, then it should be the cleaning woman who discovered the Character & Fitness background investigator with the hooker. Or maybe the hooker is available...
ReplyDeleteAnyone but another Nicolai puppet.
Oh, yeah. Nicolai has to go.
(Does everyone realize Administrative Judge Nicolai is an elected COUNTY COURT JUDGE overseeing (read: bullying) higher elected Supreme Court Judges?
Seriously, I say YES to DESKOVIC!
Deskovic has been in the can long enough to know most people there are guilty but that some are innocent. He could be put in charge of the other DNA cases that need reviewing. Also, as a judge and state employee, Deskovic would get his education paid for, among other things. I'd be honored to have him as a state supreme court judge.
ReplyDeleteRead more about Jeffrey Deskovic at http://www.innocenceproject.org/Content/44.php
ReplyDeleteConsidering that the court system has been running ass backwards for years, the idea of State Supreme Court Judge Jeffrey Deskovic is a good one. Especially given the fact that usually you become a judge and then go to prison. Here, Deskovic has already gone (wrongly) to prison.
ReplyDeleteYes, Gov. you have my vote on this one.
I don't know Jeffrey Deskovic but I've read his story in the Westchester Guardian which was very moving. He would be a better Judge than 99% of the bums on the bench right now.
ReplyDeleteAll I would like to say is that my late relative, William ("Boss") Tweed would have been most proud of the rampant corruption in our state's court system. Our family fondly credits William as the first true New York political boss who, through extortion and threats, masterfully manipulated and controlled judges, public employees and the system.
ReplyDeleteWe need some changes!
ReplyDeleteMaking Jeffrey Deskovic a Judge would be poetic justice for all.
ReplyDeleteThere isn't one behind-kissing lawyer-wanna-be-judge that could hold a handle to this guy Deskovic.
ReplyDeleteIncluding the nitwit Marchewich who wanted to be elected Manhattan Surrogate Court after she stupidly wrote about the lack of attorney ethics in a NY law journal article in a case where she was involved (and should have REPORTED the improper activity)
See the Marchewich story on this blog and you pick: a wanna-be-hack like a Ms. Marchewich, or a man like Deskovic.
I pick Deskovic, and so should you Governor.
DEMONSTRATION IN FRONT OF WESTCHESTER COURTHOUSE MONDAY, July 16th, 11:30-12:30

We are staging a rally against the corruption in Westchester Family, Matrimonial and Surrogate’s courts: The LACK OF DUE PROCESS, the practice of removal of children from their parents, backroom deals, issuing Temporary Orders based on false or unverified allegations, etc. If interested:?
Please e-mail Peter at admin@letq.com or call 914-309-7463. Show up………take a stand against court corruption MONDAY, JULY 16, 2007 at 11:30am
hey judge kaye. do you detect a little roar from the masses about how crooked the courts have become under your watch. shame on you. DESKOVIC FOR JUDGE !!
ReplyDeleteDeskovic's first case should be the Judge that sent him as an innocent person (Deskovic) away to prison. Meanwhile the fat SOB has been living on the fat of the land. Put that bastard in jail and take his money and give it to Deskovic, that's JUSTICE. Let him lose 17 years of his life if he has that many left.
ReplyDeleteAll of this is unbelievable. but I read the documents, and I wonder what the hell has been going on in our court system. out of control, it is.
ReplyDeleteRichard Blassbery in The Westchester Guardian published the story on Jeffrey Deskovic in his own words. Everyone should read it and see the injustice in the courts and how an innocent young man was railroaded by a corrupt Judge, police force and West. Co. DA's Office who together didn't give a damn
ReplyDeleteI agree. Governor, please start changing the corrupt ways of the judiciary. A good start would be to name Deskovic.
ReplyDeletecut the fellow some slack, give him a break - make him a Judge - he would be a better one that almost all the pompous impostors in black robes
ReplyDeleteDiFiore-Commissioned Report No Whitewash - this is the headline from The Westchester Guardian (7/12/07) which Findings Expose Worst-Case Police and Prosecutorial Misconduct - this is the 38-page report entitled "Report on the Conviction of Jeffrey Deskovic." Everyone should read this story of how Jeffrey Deskovic got railroaded by a corrupt Judge (Nicholas Colabella), DA Carl Vergari, DA Jeanine Pirro and many others. This is a sad comment on the so-called system that is broken.
ReplyDeleteI read it,its very good. The people involved should all go to jail and be sanctioned.
ReplyDeletePut (Sl)udge Nicholas Colabella in jail for his deprived indifference
ReplyDeleteI think this is a very good idea!!
ReplyDeleteI'd rather have a circus clown as a judge instead of most of the clowns now sitting on the bench. (no offense to circus clowns)
ReplyDeleteIf spitzer doesn't appoint Deskovic, how about a write in campaign?
ReplyDeleteCheck out Spitzer appointment of Lippman story. He appoints Lippman as a top judge and Lippman never was a real judge until 2004!! Experince, no. Head up Eliot's rearend, yes.
ReplyDeleteSpitzer fooled us........and he fooled us badly.
They need to investigate some court employees in a santa ana courthouse california. They will remove delete and tamper with evidence of innocence from record and follow up with that to plant fix rig set-up and frame false evidence in a printed document to jury to use against accused. You can be obstructed of justice further by these court public employees when they won't interview witnesses to correct the record. There are some corrupt crooked court employees.
