Tom Robbins on New York Judges
On the Right: See Tom Robbins July 24, 2007 article, BENCHWARMERS - "Everything you never wanted to know about picking judges for an important court you've never heard of" (The Village Voice)....
Great article, Tom. But, fyi, Gov. Pawtuckee was mayor of Peekskill in Westchester County. I never knew Lippman had zero experience as a real judge prior to 2004. Did Spitzer know this? How does Eliot explain that one! If I were Judges Saxe and Andrias, I'd be fuming. I guess Eliot fooled a lot of us. Bring back Frank Seddio, he's our man!! (great pix of Seddio in his holiday hat!)
governor should be ashamed of himself for overlooking the many qualified judges for some party line hack.... he'll be next in the daily news saying good bye.
Tom Robbins does it again by showing what a fraud Spitzer's "special panel" was really all about. Appointing Lippman as P.J., when it should have been Andrias or Saxe, shows that Spitzer is worried about Spitzer and not the people of New York or the true administration of law. While it was good to remove Lippman from being Chief Administrative Judge where he did untold damage, Spitzer could have moved Lippman to small claims court instead.
Thought that everyone knew that PJ Jonathan (Just because I never tried a case and my wife works for the courts doesn't make me a bad person) Lippman is a buddy of the one and only Sheldon Silver --- will the real fixer please stand up --- ops, don't all stand up together.
I just emailed this Robbins article to everyone on my email list- about 300 people. Most are either from New York, or previously lived here.
It's important to spread this story around. It beautifully explains how crappy the court system in New York has become. It's a fu**ing joke, totally controlled by a bunch of thieves.
Enough’s enough. This make believe judge Lippman has been “Presiding Judge” long enough. The (bad) joke’s over. Lippman has been there long enough. Get him off. NOW, Governor. Your appointment of Lippman as PJ at the first department is a total insult to every person who has ever voted for a judge who has earned his/her keep and our respect. Eliot, you are messing up the core of law and order in New York (what’s left of it), and any respect for our courts (what’s left of it) My plumber has more judicial experience than Lippman; he’s a hack (ever hear of Frank Seddio)
Come to your senses, Governor, REMOVE LIPPMAN NOW.
It doesn't seem right that Judge Lippman was appointed over all the other very qualified judges who had a lot more experience. It's just not right. It's sets a very bad example. And I am confident that it is very demoralizing to all those men and women judges who have given so much of themselves.
a blog should get together a list of all the home addresses of all the Judges and put them on line so that everyone could see them, everyone should know where they live, they are no better than anyone else
Robbins gets heads, and his editor gets tails. Flip a coin and the winner should replace Lippman as the PJ at the 1st department. With this method there would at least be a shread of chance that the person presiding wouldn't be beholden to the political party hacks and continue making a mockery of our legal system. (If robbins is unavailable, perhaps the CCF cleaning lady would be...)
It would take all space in the Village Voice to write about the corruption in the courts in nyc, and each week for a year. And we all know how thick the Village Voice has become....
Read about West. Surrogate Anthony A. Scarpino and his staff attorney Jody Keltz on the blog. Have come to the conclusion that they both have the ethics of $2.00 whores, Anthony maybe just a touch smoother than Jody and that's an insult to $2.00 whores. So how do they both get away with things? Does anyone care? How many payoffs have they taken from fellow attorneys, banks, interested parties et al.? How many other STEALS have there been like Jody Keltz's house in Scarsdale? If the NY State Judiciary will not do anything - Where are the Federal watchdogs, sleeping?
Here in New York City and the Suburbs we have a special sale on Surrogate Judges, they can be had very cheap, but of course cash talks everyone else walks in circles.....and as a bonus we can throw in a couple shyster lawyers....do we have a deal?
LIPP MAN HAS THE PERFECT NAME...NOW WHO WAS AT THE RECEIVING END! JUDITH KAYE CANNOT HELP...SHE IS THE PROBLEM...CALL THE NATIONAL MEDIA...DATELINE SUFFICES!

ReplyDeleteWhat's Robbins have to say about Ramos and the $20 million dollar cozy deal? (Hey, I admit it, I'm jealous over the $20 mil)
ReplyDeletegovernor should be ashamed of himself for overlooking the many qualified judges for some party line hack.... he'll be next in the daily news saying good bye.
ReplyDeleteWe should all read the book;
ReplyDelete"The Next 25 Years: The New Supreme Court and What It Means for Americans by Martin Garbus" and get on with our lives.

ReplyDeleteLet me get this straight. Judge Lippman was only first ELECTED as a judge in 2005 ?!?! (so he gets "appointed" as a judge prior to that...)
ReplyDeleteAnd Lippman never actually HEARD a court case until 2004 ?!?!?
And in 2007, governor Spitzer appoints this novice hack as head of the 1st department appellate court ?!?!
Who's ass has Lippman's head been up? This is disgusting. Get rid of Lippman, and then impeach Spitzer.

ReplyDeleteThis is a good story. Someone needs to do something about the courts in New York and how we get and promote our judges. It's too political.

ReplyDeleteYo Tommie, when are you going to call for a federal monitor to take over the new york courts?!
ReplyDeleteWill Rogers many times said that we have the best Judges that MONEY can BUY and it's still true
