Three Cheers for Paterson's Senate Pick

Three Cheers for Paterson's Senate Pick
Expose Corrupt Courts OPINION - January 23, 2009

In choosing Kristen Gillibrand as New York's next U.S. Senator, Governor Paterson has provided hope that the state court system's ethics cesspool may soon find a long overdue cleaning.

Big Cheer Number One - that Attorney General Andrew Cuomo will continue his actions to hold those accountable in the state court system who participate in corrupting a justice system for personal gain. (Unfortunately, Andrew Cuomo could not be cloned, thus preventing a dual role of NYS Attorney General and U.S. Senator from New York.)

Big Cheer Number Two - that Shelly Silver, will NOT be picking a New York State Attorney General. Horrifically, had Attorney General Cuomo become Senator, his AG vacancy, by statute, would be filled NOT by Governor Paterson but by one Shelton Silver. And to continue the pay-to-play, criminal-whitewashing pattern of New York state political insiders, any Silver-appointed Attorney General would have derailed the important work by the Attorney General over the last year to finally address the systemic corruption of law and order throughout the state.

Big Cheer Number Three - that the voice of an important NON-lower state public servant, in Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, will break the good 'ole boy, back-room deals of the small ring of greedy downstate thieves.

Three Cheers!! for Paterson, Cuomo, Gillibrand and the rule of law.

  2. Cuomo is a class guy. He knew that if he became US Senator, Shelly "A Hack's Hack" Silver would have picked a puppet to continue King Shelly's corruptive ways. And the people of OCA and all of New York State would be stuck with the same old violations of decency and laws would simply continue. Cuomo undertands that a big group of OCA dirty hacks need to be fitted with silver bracelets.

I will vote for Cuomo in ANY election he EVER enters.

I must say Paterson, in his Senatorial pick, has somewhat regained his sanity.... after the disgraceful pick of Lippman for chief judge.

Does anyone know when the NYS Senate will hold hearings on Lippman? FOR THE GOOD OF THE STATE LIPPMAN CANNOT BE CONFIRMED !!!!!!

  3. If Cuomo is such a class guy, why hasn't he done anything about the rampant corruption in the courts in New York State?

Also, if you think that Gillibrand is such a good choice, you need to read Wayne Barrett's article in the Village Voice about her father's connection to the soon-to-be indicted Joe Bruno.

This whole smear of Caroline Kennedy stinks to high heaven, as does anything political in New York State.

  4. I don't know what to think. I agree with the previous comments, on one hand, and I disagree on the other.

Seems to me that since everything is in such an awful state of corruption that ANY action is good as it brings awareness to the vast number of brainless citizens out there. You know, shine a light on the rats, etc.

  5. When someone figures Paterson out, please let me know. I read in yesterday's Albany Times Union that he's picked one of the worst political game players from Westchester to be one of his advisers. Not good news for anyone:

Westchester deputy exec to work for NY governor

    Associated Press

    Last updated: 4:46 p.m., Thursday, January 22, 2009

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The deputy executive in New York's Westchester County is leaving to work for Gov. David Paterson.

Paterson and county Executive Andrew Spano say Larry Schwartz will be first deputy secretary to the governor. Schwartz starts Feb. 2.

Spano says the 51-year-old White Plains resident has been like a chief operating officer for the county just north of New York City, overseeing the government's daily operations.

Spano's chief adviser and director of communications, Susan Tolchin, will succeed Schwartz as deputy executive.

  6. If Silver is a "hack's hack" then what the hell do we call Joe Bruno?

  7. Saint Andrew, patron saint of corrupt lawyers and judges, serves his beloved fellows but not the people. Remember when Saint Andrew was going to have an amnesty and discover and remove corruption in the courts? Saint Andrew cannot serve two masters so he has rejected the people.

  9. Paterson should have picked an upstater for senator, from WNY.
Way up and over here, the two who were vetted did not grow up with, sleep with or have relatives that were friends with Bruno, Lippman or Shelly.
So business as usual...even when they pretend the pick is far away...not far enough from Albany for me!

  10. WTF?

You people must be talking about a different Andrew Cuomo than the one I know.

Cuomo has done NOTHING to curb judicial corruption!
