Goldman Sachs Lawyer Charged with Soliciting Online 'Girl' for Sex

Goldman Sachs lawyer charged with soliciting online 'girl' for sex
The Journal News by Rebecca Baker - July 28, 2009

WHITE PLAINS, NY - An attorney with Goldman Sachs is accused of soliciting sex online from someone he thought was a teenage girl but was in fact a Westchester County investigator. Todd Genger, a 33-year-old corporate lawyer who lives on the Upper West Side, was arraigned in White Plains City Court today for attempting to disseminate indecent material to a minor, a felony. Genger is accused of having inappropriate online chats with an investigator from the county District Attorney's office, who was posing as a 15-year-old girl. Starting on April 13, he allegedly talked about explicit sexual acts that he wanted to perform with the "girl." The last such chat happened yesterday, prosecutors said. Genger arranged to meet the girl at an undisclosed location in Westchester and was arrested. He was released without bail and is due back in court on Aug. 11. He faces 15 months to four years in state prison on the charge.  rebaker@lohud.com

  1. Don't worry, Sherry Cohen will deep-six this complaint for her friends at Goldman.

  2. As long as he pays his 3,000 a year protection money to the Bar
association nothing will happen to him.
The DA will claim that he made a mistake and give him nothing more than a slap on the wrist.
He will serve no jail time. the fine he pays will be less than a N.Y.C parking ticket

  6. Hey, Todd, Ask to have your case transferred to Essex County and DA Julie Garcia. She didn't prosecute adult male predators with teenage girl because they were bisexual. She may not have wished to called homophobic. Even if your not bisexual now, you may be after prison. Maybe, a creative change of identity and venue will help.

  7. Give Genger a break after all he has to spend some of the Goldman Sachs's ill gotten money somehow. Look at it from the point of view that Genger is stimulating the economy. It a good thing.

  8. Todd Genger was convicted of two felonies following his guilty plea to each charge. Automatic loss of law license is just one of the many collateral consequences he will face. Possible prison term of eight years if given the maximum sentence to be served consecutively. Unlikely, though. He will be required to register as a sex offender. With the success of the iPhone application that locates sex offenders, he will be well-known in the community as a sex offender. Apparently Mrs Genger relocated to Florida following the incident. Tragedy to go from being a well-paid lawyer at Goldman Sachs and family man to a criminal whose kids will have to live forever with the knowledge of what was done. The information will remain on the World Wide Web forever.
