The New York Daily News by GLENN BLAIN AND DANIEL EDWARD ROSEN - December 12, 2009
Gov. David Paterson would be in favor of giving the state's attorney general more authority.
Let me keep Albany pols in line, says Attorney General Andrew Cuomo - Gov. Paterson says it might be a good idea to empower Attorney General Andrew Cuomo to clean up Albany's mess. "The attorney general having greater subpoena power is not a bad concept at all," Paterson said Friday. Cuomo, considered a likely primary challenger to Paterson, suggested Thursday that a simple way to reform Albany would be for the Legislature to let his office issue subpoenas in public corruption cases. Cuomo's comments follow the conviction of former Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno on federal corruption charges. Paterson, who has been criticized for not doing enough to push ethics reform, has proposed creating an independently chosen ethics watchdog agency. The governor spoke to reporters after signing into law a bill to reform the state's much-criticized public authorities.
Here we go 'round again. In circles. This state and this sorry AG and sorry Governor cannot address the widespread corruption. It's too big, and involves all of the supporters of the AG and the Governor. (In civilized worlds, they call that a conflict). BRING IN THE FEDS !
ReplyDeletehey AG, you are well aware of Civil Constitutional and Human Rights Violations for 15 years,
ReplyDeleteplease pick me!
why, because the last one they did this to committed suicide!
We want an independent watch dog agency, run by the FEDS and citizens board, so if the corrupt lie, they get to go to jail, compliments of our FEDS!!!!!!
ReplyDeletehey Paterson, stop the campaign money and send in the FEDS!
ReplyDeletethe case on campaign laundering funds in Buffalo proves it!
ReplyDeletestop the campaign money.......
The AG office is not going to do anything. They are protecting and enabling the corruption. Bernadette E. Lupinetti, Esq. is a fine example of whitewashing, she breaks the law nothing happens.
ReplyDeleteThe Feds are concentrating on the Legislature... Not the Courts..
ReplyDeleteRead the NYPOST who oddly always seems to get the Fed stories first...
As a reader of this blog, your likely to be a victum of the CJC and/or the DDC (aka Grievance Committees throughout NYS). Now, as we face an postpontment of our last and potentially final hearing of Senator Sampson's, we now have more time to prepare; utilize this time to OUR ADVANTAGE. Those in attendance of the hearings should have, by now, submitted some written complaint, whether by open testimony or not, and should do so yet again, or appropriately said, 'submit yet'more.' No doubt you also know somebod; another victim, as our lives gravitate towards one another in our quest of justice. Have them too submit (or again?) a written complaint(s) and/or applicatin for open testimony in what may be, and quoting Sen. Sampson here, his 'task-force' that (will)was to be "in place & up and running" as what was to have been the follow-up to the Sept.24th hearing. Let's use this time wisely.folks and not merely wait for the next 16th awaiting 'their plan' to perhaps your June 8th presentation. Bloggers here should contribute yet more, additional experience of the corruption experienced. Assessment of these hearings, in hopefully a cleaner Albany come the new year, should be first, measured in our TONS of paper (we) submitt....follow this thought?

Albany — Calls from the governor's office have carried great consequence for Town of Wallkill resident Preston Felton.
Six months ago, such a call cut short his retirement and lifted him to the pinnacle of New York state law enforcement. Then came calls from William Howard, a high-ranking aide to Gov. Eliot Spitzer.
Felton now risks ending his distinguished, 26-year career on a note of disgrace.
Top cop caught in leak plot
In its investigation into the "dirty tricks" plot by the governor's office, the state attorney general's office found acting state police Superintendent Preston Felton:
• Bowed to pressure: Despite obvious political overtones, Felton never questioned the governor's office inquiry into Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno's use of state police helicopters.
• Violated procedure: Felton sought out records on Bruno's travels before a Freedom of Information Law request had been filed. He released them without a standard security review. He had documents created to fill in gaps in the paper trail, something not required under FOIL.
• Broke chain of command: Felton personally supervised the document collection, something usually handed by a public information officer. That involved contacting an investigator familiar with Bruno's security detail.
As acting state police superintendent, Felton was a vital — if unwitting — accomplice in an effort by governor's aides to engineer an expose on Senate leader Joe Bruno's use of state helicopters, according to a report by the state attorney general.
In light of that, most observers say it's unlikely that Gov. Eliot Spitzer would permanently name Felton the state's top cop. But some lawmakers question whether Felton can even continue leading the 5,000-member agency in an interim capacity.
"It doesn't show that he's got the ability to resist political pressure," said state Sen. Tom Morahan, R-C-New City, who thinks Felton should resign.
"He's had his integrity compromised," said Assemblyman Tom Kirwan, R-C-Newburgh, a retired state police lieutenant. "It's cost him his opportunity to be superintendent. It's also cost him his good name."
Such an assessment of Felton, 48, would have seemed unthinkable six months ago.
Throughout a career that he began as a road trooper assigned to Middletown's Troop F, the soft-spoken Felton was seen as a straight shooter and a gentleman.
His appointment to the $136,000-a-year superintendent's post drew cheers from the state troopers' union, which later praised his handling of the Margaretville raid that left one trooper dead and another injured by gunfire in April.
It's a testament to such support that Bruno declined an opportunity to criticize Felton last week.
"The superintendent just couldn't have been more apologetic and contrite," Bruno said.
Felton said last week he didn't know the information he gathered would be used for political purposes.
He declined to comment for this story.
Nonetheless, whomever Spitzer appoints as state police superintendent would have to face confirmation before the Republican-controlled Senate.
The botched leak plot would inevitably become an issue.
As for Spitzer, he says Felton was "put in an untenable position" and declined to discipline him as recommended by the attorney general.
He has, however, noted that a national search for a new top cop would continue.
"The governor has full confidence in Preston Felton's ability to lead the state police," Spitzer spoke woman Christine Anderson said. "In terms of his candidacy for the permanent position, his lapses in judgment must necessarily be considered."

Seems Patterson did request the Investigation... to his credit..
I didn't realize Christine Anderson was directly involved... Interesting...
So Christine... What can you tell us??
oh it doesn't appear that the AG can investigate certain matters without first being invited...
ReplyDeletehttp://codes.lp.findlaw.com/nycode/EXC/5/63
To 7:55 Why doesn't Paterson ask the AG to investigate? Applicable law is NY Executive Law copied below:
ReplyDelete#8. Whenever in his judgment the public interest requires it, the attorney-general may, with the approval of the governor, and when directed by the governor, shall, inquire into matters concerning the public peace, public safety and public justice.
Who are you fooling. Get off your butts, Cuomo and Paterson, the public interest requires it!
COMMENTING ON SOME OF THE ABOVE POSTS:
ReplyDelete1. .AG needs to be invited to investigate certain cases concerning certain agencies. The Governor can open some of those doors by appointing him to investigate a matter concerning the interests of NYS.
There is a case that started yesterday where a convicted person is having a hearing in Putnman County, moved from Dutchess County concerning this very matter. He was convicted on the investigation of then AG Spitzer, and without invitation from the Banking Department. Spitzer, in his quest for publicity and higher office just took it upon his own to investigate the case. My information is that he back-dated his 'invitation' to particpate, and that is pretty much a proven matter. Spitzer had avoided service, but he has been served.
2. The governor appointing Cuomo to 'clean up Albany' It seems that Cuomo did such a wonderful job with the Tankleff Case that the Governor is thinking about appointing him to clean up the snake pit known as Albany. Don't look for anything to change very soon with Andy at the wheel. My guess is that the Governor is looking for Andy to step on his Johnson.
Andrew, I am told was a non-entity when he 'worked' in the Manhattan DA office. So why should anyone believe he can really do a real investigation? He played straight man for one of the most corrupt DA's in NYS with the Tankleff Case. Read the report he issued on his 'investigation' and get someone with some knowledge to explain it to you.
Tankleff attorney, Bruce Barket, said to more than 200 persons in the Puffin Room, NYC on 6/21/06 that Tankleff case would never come to trial again no matter how the appeal turned out. He made no bones about it. Spota handed off to Cuomo, and Cuomo ran the 'ball into the ground' and the trial was called a forfeit. He then came back and said that there was some evidence of guilt on the part of Tankleff, and left out important information when so doing it.
3. Al D'Amato. The true architect of most of the corruption that goes on in NYS. His influence seeps through all of the corriders of government like the green fog in the movie, The Ten Commandments.
Dear Governor Paterson and Andrew Cuomo,
ReplyDeletePusuit to Executive Law #8, please investigate the Niagara County Sheriff's Department, whose officers are being used as a means of personal vendetta's. This behavior is then relayed to lawyers and judges so that the targets rights are violated. The lawyers and judges are being harmed by such behavior and the perpetrators should be charged appropriately.
The last one this was done to committed suicide, your immediate help in the matter is appreciated.
Thank you for your investigation,
the targets
oh I forgot, they use the DA Office also and any State, Gov't Agency they can, true psychopaths are ruling the county......
ReplyDeleteplease help!
this is how they perpetrate the target:
ReplyDeletethey start some kind of trouble with the sheriffs, they tell the sheriff the target is a psych, so their reports go missing, so they do not investigate, this information goes to the DA and any other State,Gov't Agency they can use to harm the target.....
all the while they tell the target the mob is after you, to scare the target....
they can even pass psych paperwork even if it is fiction, they do not care, anything to target an innocent victim........
so for those thinking of committing suicide in Niagara County it is the gang bangs of Niagara County, not the mob and report these garbage individuals to the FBI, Governor, AG.......
time for the decent citizens to be allowed their right to live free from retailiation and retribution of low life's
remember low lifes I have reported you to the Rectal Society and they have the last say..........
ReplyDeleteThe AG has plenty of power now, he doesn't need more. More power and he becomes Hitler.
ReplyDeleteThis reporting is incredible...better than the Sunday paper...for sure.
ReplyDeleteThank you lawyers, prosecutors and maybe FBI for the most informative analysis of NY state hit men that I have yet to read in condensed fashion...I love this page on this blog more than anything ever printed!
Law enforcement and the judicial system in NY state are all working in collusion. If one has a perceived enemy or an ethics thumper...the other calls in any or all of their connected forces....and no order shall be ignored..including homicide, surveillance and eavesdropping. I am aware of this behavior, because I have been a subject of them all...and devised a multi-source investigation, obtaining facts to it's existence.....now stored at several sites!
These stories are what is needed to engage our citizens in a 'civil' revolution! No harm to anyone but the process.
where do we send our complaints to get invited?
ReplyDeleteHey George Maziarz, I need some transportation to the next hearing, please call, and see if Carl is busy, he is fun, maybe he will want to come along for the ride! If you know what I mean......
law enforcement and the judicial system are a bunch of idiots, people just want their rights, plan and simple.......
ReplyDeletethey do not want to sue the entire NYS Court & Police system....
and that is what they create,
insanity at it finest!
Cops and courts know you just want your constitutional rights and all lawsuits against them are manipulated to become battles beyond any fight in the Middle East!
ReplyDeleteSo....the process of luring and maintaining civil service from our government, has become a constant battle ground involving our citizens and their quest to secure and purify our American Democratic freedoms.......while continuously fending off the power and greed that drives and hinders these established rights!
IF..... as it was stated to me years ago...that green M&M'S make judges horny..why then don't the red ones make them honest and ethical?
As Judgment and the Law arrives..
ReplyDeleteHow come you can't lie to a Fed, but they can lie to you???
ReplyDeleteseems so unfair... lol
ReplyDeleteFEDS lie, we just want them to answer our calls! maybe return them, so that people are not harmed by the legally insane.....
ReplyDeletelove the red M&M story!
I know what I am giving out for Christmas!
cops are idiots, if you let citizens file complaints we would appreciate it, just because we file a complaint does not mean we want to sue you, it means we want you to notify the ilk to knock it off!
