Jury Convicts Man Whose First Lawyer Was Indicted
The New York Law Journal by John Caher  -  November 3, 2011

A Manhattan jury yesterday convicted a man of a domestic violence-related murder in a case where the defendant's initial attorney remains under indictment for witness tampering.  Jesus Alejandro was convicted of second-degree murder in connection with the 2008 stabbing of a woman in her East Harlem apartment. Mr. Alejandro's first attorney, Mitchell Golub of Manhattan, was indicted in February and accused of attempting to persuade a witness to not testify before the grand jury that indicted Mr. Alejandro on the murder.  The misdemeanor charge against Mr. Golub is pending, according to the Manhattan District Attorney's Office.

Manhattan criminal lawyer accused of tampering with murder witness
The New York Post by Laura Italiano  -  February 15, 2011

A Manhattan lawyer who has defended perverts, killers and white collar crooks came to criminal court with a lawyer of his own today -- and in handcuffs -- to plead not guilty to charges he tampered with a key witness against a client in a murder case.  Mitchell Golub is facing up to a year jail if convicted of misdemeanor charges of tampering with a witness. He turned himself in to the DA's office this morning, and was released without bail after appearing before a judge early this afternoon.  Prosecutors allege that when an accused fatal stabber Golub was representing, Jesus Alejandro, 18, was about to go to trial in Jan. 2010, the lawyer talked a key female witness into dodging a subpoena to testify.  "We have always maintained there was absolutely no merit to these charges," his lawyer, Michael Marinaccio, said after court. "This case will go to trial."  Golub has been an attorney for more than 30 years, and spent 5 years as a prosecutor in Queens, his lawyer said. "He has an unblemished record."  In 2005, Golub took his most notorious client to trial -- so-called Beast of Bellevue Hector Ramirez, who was convicted of monstrously kidnapping a 13-year-old patient from her hospital bed and dragging her into a darkened conference room, where he sexually attacked her and nearly beat and strangled her to death.  Golub, who declined comment, is due back in court on the tampering charge April 27.
