Lawsuit Says It's Time For Public Servants to Pay for Knowing-Wrongs

Bx. DA sued over prosecution based on ‘lies’
The New York Post by Jamie Schram and Jose Martinez  -  February 29, 2012

A Bronx prosecutor turned an innocent man’s life into a living hell for three years by plowing ahead with a case built on cops’ lies, a new lawsuit charges.  Mechanic Jerry Ramos plans to file a $6 million suit today against the Bronx District Attorney’s Office and the NYPD over his January 2008 arrest on drug charges.  “It makes you feel that you cannot trust the Police Department,” Ramos said. “And if all the [aassistant district attorneys] are like that, they should close down the Bronx courthouse.”  A jury took less than 20 minutes to acquit Ramos, the owner of Jerome Muffler Corp., after he was busted for heroin found in a bathroom at a neighboring business, Jerome Transmission Corp.  “I was like, ‘What the hell is going on?’ ” said Ramos of his Jan. 12, 2008, arrest.  “I told the police that I wasn’t the owner of that business — there’s different licenses, different entrances, different names.”  Steven Reed, a spokesman for the Bronx DA’s Office said, “We are unaware of any wrongdoing, and feel confident that this lawsuit is going nowhere.”  Ramos’ attorney, John Sandleitner, said, “It’s time for these officers and this prosecutor to pay for what they did.”  Court papers accuse Lt. Patrick Brown, Detective Arnaldo Rivera and Officer Vladimir Krull of repeatedly lying in an attempt to get Ramos convicted.

Good for this guy! The prosecutor/lawyers need to be held accountable. And the cops need to pay also- fire them!

Every person who works for the government and gets paid by the citizens, should be held liable for not protecting them. But, in many cases, it's not just not protecting them, but they are actively engaged in harming them.

Each and every one of them takes an oath to uphold the laws and constitutions. If they don't do that, the certainly are committing a fraud, and should be sue for that and the damages they cause.

Hopefully, the Bronx jury will do the right thing.

(Why is it that the police in NY don't use cameras? They rest of the US does, and it makes a huge difference. Many are going past just cameras in the cars, and putting them on the officers themselves and on the tasers.)

There is no justice or trust in courts when the police lie and the ADA assists. Justice requires equal jail time for the ADA and the police officers which the innocent could have served.

well... the harsh reality here is that this guy is gonna have one heck of a battle ahead of him... initially he's gonna have to overcome the defense's claim prosecutorial immunity for officials acting in their official capacity, and their other attempts to dismiss his case and never allow the true crimes and lies to ever be the subject at a public trial, all the while discrediting his attempts to right a willfull wrong from which he suffered... finally ending up with a decision containing the statement "all remaining contentions are without merit"...

then they'll republish all over the place, as if to serve as a lesson for all who would dare have the audacity to demand that the law is something to be abided by by everyone...

hey, been there... gone through that... still going through it...

don't give up... be strong... you are not alone...

What is going on in our courts and police departments is a disgrace to our ancestors who shed blood for these over looked freedoms.

The best way to sue them is by suing them in there private person like. lets say brian doing business as a police officer, mike doing business as the ADA. That is how you sue them if not that corrupt system will try and just there wrongs. They act as if they never took and oath to that constitution.
