16 Judges Arrested in 'Vast Web of Corruption'

Italian Police Arrest 16 Judges, Sieze €1 Billion in Mafia Bust
The International Business Times by Oliver Tree  -  March 19, 2012

Police in Naples, Italy have arrested 16 judges and seized assets worth over €1 billion ($1.3 billion) in a huge anti-mafia bust exposing the extent of organized crime's penetration into Italian big business and the state.  The judges were among 47 people arrested under operation Bad Metal, which included the seizure of buildings, cars and property.  The arrests were part of a crackdown on the Fabroccino clan, who are believed to have bribed judges in order to obtain favorable court judgments.  Police have not released the names of the arrested judges, the BBC said.  According to the Financial Times, the 16 were all tax judges suspected of forming a "vast web of corruption" that involved an "illicit trade of court verdicts."  In Italy, organized crime has a suspected "turnover" of more than €100 billion, with many legitimate businesses either paying protection money to gangs, or the businesses themselves recycling the money gained from drugs and arms smuggling.  "It is a signal of transparency . . . With measures like this we can conduct a real and concrete battle against the Mafia's infiltrations and can break that vicious circle which damages the economy and healthy companies," Emma Marcegaglia, head of anti-corruption group Confindustria, told the FT last week.  Monday's operation was the largest against the mafia since 2010, when authorities in Sicily seized €1.5 billion in mafia assets on the island.

This headline could be on today's New York Times, Post and Daily News, but they don't report of the extent of the judicial corruption- just a little crumb here and there. Oh, but wait, instead of "16 judges" it would be "160 judges" in NY.

In New York State, a different Lawyer/Judge mob runs the corrupt courts, where justice is purchased and sold. The Capo is Governor Cuomo, who openly received protection and settlement money from lawyers with actions against NY State in his Campaign Treasury.

right to both above. so where are the Feds?

The Federal Courthouse at 500 Pearl Street here in NYC is a thousand times worst.

These Judges openly receive bribes and "gifts". But here they have no shame and do it right in front of your face.

And they laugh and say "what are you...a lowly Citizen going to do about it?"

Screw you unless you got something we want.

This is so true. My ex, a convicted felon (former Biglaw) has a halo on in Drager's Court room, while she disparages me, the Impoverished Mom. My ex making $17m a year is never forced to abide by our Stip, nor incur my legal costs per notices of default. Ex is running/bought another class action securities fraud litigation firm. Do the Feds care a convicted felon is running KSF? Not when another partner there is former attorney general of Loisiana...SGS buys Judge Drager and the Feds laugh that he is still practicing law...

They start looking into judges over here and prosecuting them
they would need more prisons

HOW MANY IN NEW YORK? WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE? If they can rope 16 dirty judges in Italy we can more than triple that figure here in just one county of New York State!

Why is the U.S. so behind the rest of the world in cleaning up judicial corruption?

Because we are propagandized into believing that America has the BEST system in the world..how arrogant are we?
We use this false statement, so the public will never look to hold the courts accountable..because the US justice system might just then become one of those other horrid systems..adage leave well enough alone!

"Because we are propagandized into believing that America has the BEST system in the world.."

you have no idea of how truth there is in what you just said above...

an example...

we recently heard about the Chinese activist, and how China was painted as a country lacking in basic human rights and individual rights... as if to continue, just this morning on twitter i found myself reading a Times op ed piece entitled "Does the Law Matter in China?"...

if one would stop for a second and look at the title objectively, one cannot help but find him/her self subconsiously reading it without appending the unwritten the follwing words "... like it does here"

In your minds eye the title is read "Does the Law Matter in China like it does here?"...

and that is the genius of the subtle conditioning that we are subjected to on a daily basis... without hardly noticing what we've been prospected...

the media creates in your mind the impression that China=BAD, and that we are different... US=GOOD...

we are good... we are righteous... we are held up as the pinnacle of lawfulness... a lawful society... would all of us like to think that we are these things... certainly...

we are over here... we are safe... we have nothing to fear because ours is a safe land... ours is a land of laws... and we have rights under the law...

we have nothing to fear...

we have nothing to fear...

be calm...

be happy...

buy...

buy more...

buy more... now...

WAKE UP AMERICA!! OPEN YOUR EYES TO THE TRUTH!!!
